From September 7th to 11th, a five-member delegation from the Republic of Madagascar, comprising Mr. Rakotonaivo Mamisoa Judicael, representative of the Ministry of Public Health, and Mr. Rajaonarivony Tianarivelo, Director of the Center Hospitalier Univercitaire D' anosiala, visited the First Hospital of Lanzhou University for academic exchange. The visit aimed to further advance the Respiratory Medicine Department Construction Project between LZUFH and the Center Hospitalier Univercitaire D' anosiala, Madagascar. This visit marks a significant transition from remote "virtual" collaboration to a new stage of on-the-ground, in-depth integration.

On the afternoon of September 8th, a project exchange meeting was held at LZUFH. Ms. Zheng Yumei, Second-Level Inspector of the Gansu Provincial Health Commission, representing the Commission, welcomed the Malagasy delegation and fully affirmed the phased achievements of the project. She stated that this project is not only a concrete manifestation of the practical cooperation between China and Madagascar in the medical and health field but also a vivid practice of jointly building the "Health Silk Road." She expressed hope that both sides would continue to uphold the principle of "extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits," further solidify the foundation of cooperation, improve communication mechanisms, continuously expand in-depth cooperation in areas like discipline construction, personnel training, telemedicine, and scientific research innovation, successfully complete all project tasks, jointly enhance medical service capabilities, and strive to make this project a model for China-Africa hospital cooperation.

Professor Hou Xiaoming, Vice President of LZUFH, stated that as the only institution in Gansu Province undertaking the "30 China-Africa Paired Hospital Cooperation Mechanisms" project from the National Health Commission, the hospital actively practices the philosophy of "putting people and their lives first" and promotes the building of a China-Africa health community through concrete actions. This visit by the Malagasy side is a significant milestone in the bilateral cooperation. LZUFH will fully leverage its advantages in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases and, through systematic training, technical support, and equipment assistance, help Madagascar enhance its capacity for the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, further deepening cooperation in medical technology, talent cultivation, and other fields.

Mr. Rakotonaivo Mamisoa Judicael, representative of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Madagascar, and Mr. Rajaonarivony Tianarivelo, Director of the Center Hospitalier Univercitaire D' anosiala, expressed their sincere gratitude to the Gansu Provincial Health Commission and LZUFH for the reception and support. They voiced their hope to gain in-depth knowledge of LZUFH's advanced medical technologies and management experience through this visit, thereby promoting the development of the medical and health sector in Madagascar.

During their visit, the delegation toured departments including Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the Medical Laboratory Center, the Radiology Department, the Infectious Diseases Department, and the Pathology Department. They gained detailed understanding of the mature experience and practical operations in disease diagnosis and treatment, equipment application, and multidisciplinary collaboration models, acquiring a more intuitive recognition of LZUFH's comprehensive strength and technical proficiency.

As one of the core outcomes of this visit, on September 11th, both sides jointly signed the "Agreement on Trainee Training between the First Hospital of Lanzhou University of China and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire d’Anosiala of Madagascar" during the summary and feedback session. This agreement aims to cultivate a high-level, "non-departing" medical team for Madagascar, ensuring the sustainability of the cooperative outcomes. Both parties will further improve communication and coordination mechanisms, expedite the delivery and installation of the first batch of medical equipment, and smoothly implement the training plan for the first group of Malagasy personnel coming to China.
This visit solidified the cooperative relationship between LZUFH and the Center Hospitalier Univercitaire D' anosiala, tangibly promoted the construction of the "Health Silk Road," and contributed to efforts aimed at enhancing the health standards of the Malagasy people and elevating China-Madagascar friendship and cooperation to new heights.
