From October 9th to 11th, at the joint invitation of the Chinese-German Medical Association, Shanxi Bethune Hospital, and Tongji Hospital affiliated with Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Hou Xiaoming, Vice President of LZUFH, led a nine-member delegation to Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, to attend the Die 37. Jahrestagung der Chinesisch - Deutschen Gesellschaft für Medizin(CDGM)/Deutsch - Chinesischen Gesellschaft für Medizin (DCGM).
Under the theme "Kommunikation und Innovation Fördern die Hochwertige Entwicklung von Krankenhäusern", this year's conference brought together 35 German medical experts and over a hundred Chinese medical scholars. The agenda focused on key areas including hospital management and operational performance, prevention and treatment of non-communicable and communicable diseases, cooperation in the health industry, and the development of traditional Chinese medicine. Specialized parallel forums were also held in neuroscience, oncology, rehabilitation medicine, and nursing.

On the afternoon of October 10th, during the main forum, Professor Hou Xiaoming delivered a keynote report titled "International Cooperation and Exchange Facilitating High-Quality Hospital Development." He systematically shared LZUFH's practical achievements and innovative experiences in the field of international cooperation in recent years. The report focused on the strategies of "Bringing In" and "Going Global," highlighting in-depth collaborations with renowned medical institutions in Germany and worldwide. This has led to the establishment of several international cooperation platforms such as the Sino-German Collaborative Innovation Center for Traumatology, the Sino-German Collaborative Innovation Center for Liver Diseases and Liver Transplantation, and the Sino-German Collaborative Innovation Center for Critical Care Medicine. These initiatives have propelled international exchanges for LZUFH in areas including refined hospital management, scientific research and innovation, early cancer screening and prevention, neurosurgery, rehabilitation medicine, nursing, and enhanced recovery after surgery. In the nursing sub-forum, Fan Luo, Director of the Nursing Department, presided over a session on early rehabilitation nursing.

During the conference, Professor Hou Xiaoming and delegation members held special talks with the German delegation led by Professor Michael Nerlich, President of the German-Chinese Medical Association, and Mr. Daniel Tian Li, President and Operational Manager of Essen Protestant St. Elizabeth Hospital. Building upon years of collaboration, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on key cooperation directions for 2026. They reached consensus on enhancing cooperation in refined hospital management, promoting joint clinical research initiatives, and expanding the scale of international personnel exchanges.

As a "Double First-Class" university-affiliated hospital under the Ministry of Education and a significant regional medical center in Northwest China, The First Hospital of Lanzhou University consistently regards international cooperation as a vital engine for driving high-quality development. Participation in this conference demonstrated the hospital's achievements and influence in the field of international medical exchange, further deepened its cooperative relationship with German medical institutions, clarified the direction for future collaboration, and injected new momentum into the hospital's future international development in medical technology innovation, talent cultivation, and scientific research cooperation.
