From October 16th to 18th, Professor John Hagen, Deputy President of the Bethune Medical Development Association Canada (BMDAC), led a delegation of six experts in general surgery and obstetrics & gynecology from renowned Canadian hospitals, alongside Mr. Sui Zhao'an, President of the CGFCC, on a visit to The First Hospital of Lanzhou University for a three-day academic exchange. This visit represents another high-level, multi-faceted, and in-depth collaboration between the two sides, following the previous visit by the association's President, Professor Lee E. Errett, in May of this year.

On the morning of the 17th, Mr. Hou Xiaoming, Vice President of LZUFH, met with the delegation led by Deputy President John Hagen. Hou Xiaoming expressed that inviting the delegation of Canadian experts in general surgery and obstetrics & gynecology through the BMDAC is an important measure in implementing the cooperative agreement and expanding the scope of collaboration. It demonstrates a firm willingness to jointly promote medical exchange and development, and the hospital looks forward to enhancing discipline development and clinical service levels through sustained cooperation.

During the exchange period, Deputy President John Hagen's delegation conducted multiple thematic sessions with relevant departments of the hospital, including Obstetrics & Gynecology, General Surgery, Ultrasound Medicine, and the Precision Medicine Laboratory. Through various formats such as specialized lectures, case discussions, and surgical observations, they shared cutting-edge medical concepts and clinical practical experience, engaging in in-depth discussions on topics including discipline construction, clinical techniques, scientific research, teaching, and talent cultivation. Both sides also held productive discussions on joint talent training and collaborative scientific research innovation. The delegation also toured the hospital's hybrid operating room, expressing high appreciation for the facility configuration and clinical management standards.

That afternoon, the expert panel conducted selection interviews for young backbone physicians and nurses from the General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Ultrasound Medicine departments who are slated for visiting scholar programs in Canada. They provided professional guidance based on actual needs, contributing to the advancement of LZUFH's international talent development initiatives.

Deputy President John Hagen, on behalf of the association, highly commended the organizational management, professional quality of the medical team, and the achievements in discipline development at LZUFH. He stated that this exchange continues the positive momentum of cooperation between the two parties and expressed the hope to further deepen collaboration in multiple fields such as obstetrics & gynecology and general surgery.
