Prof. Michel Labrosse from University of Ottawa Conducts Academic Exchanges with LZUFH

On October 31st, Prof. Michel Labrosse, Director of Engineering Department of University of Ottawa, Canada, conducted academic exchanges in the Department of Cardiology of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH). Prof. Hou Xiaoming, Vice President of LZUFH, Dr. Liu Yatao, Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Lu Andong, Deputy Director of CCU (Cardiology Ward 4), Ms. Song Li, Head Nurse of Cardio-Cerebral Cerebral Vascular Critical Care Center Nursing Unit Area, and backbones of the department participated in the activity.
During the symposium, Prof. Michel Labrosse gave a lecture on “recent advances in Cardiovascular Engineering” and shared his research results in the Cardiovascular Mechanics Laboratory of the Carleton Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Ottawa. The cardiologists of the Department of Cardiology of LZUFH, including Dr. Jiang Gaxue, Dr. Pan Chenliang, Dr. Wang Xiaojuan, Dr. Zhao Jing, etc., respectively focused on “the current situation of the diagnosis and treatment of heart valvular disease in LZUFH and the current clinical research”, “the discussion of the fluid dynamics problem of the mechanical circulatory support”, “the introduction of the cardiac ultrasound in the heart center and the related clinical research”, “cardiac ultrasound of heart center and related scientific research”. Participants exchanged views with Prof. Michel Labrosse on the hot issues in the field of cardiovascular engineering, and both sides unanimously expressed their hope to further strengthen the cooperation and exchange, and to jointly promote the in-depth cooperation in medicine, teaching and research.
After the meeting, Prof. Michel Labrosse visited the CCU ward and cardiac catheterization laboratory.
