LZUFH Carries Out Academic Exchanges with Prof. Lauri Pautola, Finland

On October 24-25, Prof. Lauri Pautola, surgical endoscopist from North Karelia Center Hospital (NKCH), Joensuu, Finland, visited the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH) for academic exchange.



On October 24th, Prof. Li Xun, Director of Medical Department and Vice President of Lanzhou University (LZU), and President of LZUFH, met with Prof. Lauri Pautola and exchanged views. Prof. Meng Wenbo and Prof. Zhang Lei, Vice Presidents of LZUFH, Prof. Zhu Xiaoliang, Deputy Director of General Surgery Department, and relevant medical staff and Gastroenterology Department attended the discussion meeting.


At the meeting, Prof. Zhu Xiaoliang and Prof. Lauri Pautola introduced the medical construction, discipline development, talent team and scientific research direction of LZUFH and NKCH respectively, and made in-depth exchanges on the combined treatment of biliary, pancreatic and gastrointestinal diseases by endoscopy and surgery, especially the application of ultrasonography and duodenoscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of biliary-pancreatic and gastrointestinal diseases. He also exchanged views on the combined endoscopic and surgical treatment of biliary, pancreatic and gastrointestinal diseases, especially the application of ultrasonic endoscopy and duodenoscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases. Meanwhile, Prof. Lauri Pautola gave guidance on the design of facilities, patient management and scientific research of the integrated endoscopy and lumenscopy operating theatre at LZUFH.



After the symposium, Prof. Zhang Lei accompanied Prof. Lauri Pautola to visit Clinical Skills Training Center, Hybrid Operating Room, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center and Surgical Endoscopy Center, and introduced the training system of medical students, healthcare system, clinical diagnostic and treatment process, management system and other related situations in LZUFH. In the Surgical Endoscopy Centre, Prof. Lauri Pautola explained in detail the surgical operation process and precautions of EUS-BD through the demonstration of ultrasonic endoscopic puncture simulator, and instructed many young endoscopic surgeons to complete the surgical operation of EUS-BD with the help of the simulator on the spot. On the following day, Prof. Lauri Pautola conducted a teaching room in the Department of General Surgery, and discussed with the general surgeons on the selection of surgical methods, prevention and treatment of complications, and postoperative follow-up of several difficult biliary and pancreatic related cases.


In this exchange, the Department of General Surgery of LZUFH and NKCH reached a consensus on multi-centre clinical research, clinical diagnostic and treatment technology, discipline development, data sharing, talent training, departmental management and other aspects, and carried out in-depth discussions and exchanges of opinions in the direction of the selected topics of the international multi-centre clinical research, and explored the new concepts, technologies and scientific research progress of the international frontiers in the minimally invasive biliopancreatic endoscopic surgery, and combined with the Prof. Lauri Pautolas professional direction, confirmed three research topics.
