LZUFH Delegation Visits TUM and Its Affliated Hospital MRI

On October 10, Prof. Li Xun, Vice President of Lanzhou University(LZU), and President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University(LZUFH) led a delegation to visit the Technische Universität München(TUM) and its affliated hospital Klinikum rechts der lsar(MRI), to carry out academic exchanges, in order to learn the advanced concepts of the world’s first-class universities and affiliated health care institutions, and to further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the medical disciplines, the affiliated hospitals of LZU and the international top institutions and affiliated hospitals.
Prof. Helmut Friess, Director of the Department of Surgery at MRI and a world-renowned expert in pancreatic surgery, warmly received Prof. Li and his entourage and introduced the history and current situation of TUM, and the Institute of Medicine and Health (IMH), and MRI. In particular, he introduced in detail the system of scientific research and teaching and the work of the hospital's major surgical department.
Prof. Li introduced LZU, especially the initiatives and progress in the construction of medical disciplines, scientific research, teaching and talent cultivation, as well as the current situation of medical, teaching and scientific research work of LZUFH and international exchange. He said that LZU and its affiliated hospitals have a long history of cooperation with many famous universities and excellent medical institutions in Germany, and Prof. Friess had visited LZUFH in 2019 for academic exchanges, and hoped that through this mutual visit, the exchange and cooperation between the two sides would be pushed to a new level.
During the exchange, Prof. Zhu Xiaoliang, Deputy Director of General Surgery Department of LZUFH, introduced the medical, teaching and research work of General Surgery Department. At the same time, the two sides carried out in-depth communication and exchanges on the construction of disciplines, personnel training, inter-specialty and interdisciplinary team diagnosis and treatment as well as teaching and research, especially on the construction of inter-specialty and interdisciplinary team diagnosis and treatment and the working mode, the construction of the intensive care ward, operating room, international ward and so on, thereby reaching a preliminary consensus on the follow-up cooperation.
Prof. Helmut Friess accompanied Prof. Li and his delegation to visit the Medical Engineering Laboratory, where he gave a comprehensive introduction to the latest artificial intelligence and robot-assisted surgery research, and the engineer demonstrated the latest progress of the medical-industrial interdisciplinary research team in the field of AI-assisted surgical operations. Afterwards, Prof. Li and his delegation visited the emergency ward, endoscopy center, intensive care unit, operating room, international ward and other related departments of MRI, and carried out friendly exchanges, accompanied by Dr. Zhang Jingcheng, an international student from China.
This visit will promote the all-round and extensive cooperation between LZU and its affiliated hospitals and internationally renowned universities and affiliated medical institutions, advance it to build “double first-class” disciplines and make a quantum leap in development of clinical, scientific research and teaching.
