Prof. Volker Lauschke from Karolinska Institutet visited the LZUFH

From August 1 to 3, Prof. Volker Lauschke, Full Professor in Translational Pharmacology, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and Deputy Director of the Dr Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology (IKP), Stuttgart, Germany, was invited to visit the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH). The visit aims to deepen the cooperation between the two sides established through online and offline exchanges over the past two years, especially in the latest research progress in stem cells, integrated cancer control, and microbial models for drug development.
Prof. Li Xun, Vice President of Lanzhou University and President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University had an in-depth talk with Prof. Volker Lauschke. Prof. Li Xun affirmed the achievements of cooperation between the two sides in the past and looked forward to further consolidating and expanding the cooperative relationship and establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism through this visit.
Prof. Volker Lauschke expressed a positive attitude towards cooperation, believing that international cooperation and exchange is an important way to promote the improvement of medical technology and benefit the health of the people, and looking forward to achieving regular exchanges and cooperation with LZUFH in many fields such as scientific research cooperation and joint training of doctoral students.
During the visit, Prof. Volker Lauschke held academic discussions on personalized medicine and drug development, translational pharmacology research, and microfluidic devices at the invitation of many departments and laboratories, such as General Surgery Department, Oncology Department, Pharmacy Department, Radiotherapy Department, Key Laboratory of Biotherapy and Regenerative Medicine, Gansu Province, Precision Medicine Laboratory, and Medical Pioneering Innovation Center. Vice Presidents of LZUFH, such as Prof. Meng Wenbo, Prof. Ji Rui, Prof. Zhang Lei, and related discipline leaders attended the academic exchange activities.
In addition, with the title of “Improving translational research through consideration of inter-individual variability,” Prof. Volker Lauschke combined his own research experience to tell the audience how to integrate basic research with solving practical problems of patients through individual differences research. In the questioning session, Prof. Volker Lauschke patiently answered the audience, and gave full affirmation and encouragement to the audience’s positive performance, further stimulating their enthusiasm for academic exploration.
