Academic Delegation from Elisabeth-Krankenhaus in Essen visited LZUFH

From May 7 to 9, invited by the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH), Academic Delegation from Elisabeth-Krankenhaus in Essen, which included Dr. Daniel Tian Li, Clinic Manager; Ms. Simone Sturm, Director of Nursing Department; Prof. Oliver Bruder, Director of Cardiovascular Department; Prof. Heinrich Wieneke, Co-director of Cardiology Department; and Dr. David Albers, Medical Director of Internal Medicine and Gastrointestinal Department, visited the First Hospital of Lanzhou University.  

  

On May 8, Prof. Li Xun, vice president of Lanzhou University, and president of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, met with the German expert team led by Dr. Daniel Tian Li and extended his warm welcome to their visit. He said that given the two sides have carried out in-depth and fruitful exchanges and visits before in the construction of specialized centers, hospital operation management, and DRG payment, we are looking forward to further establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism and deepening practical cooperation in the refined management and high-quality development of hospitals, the construction of specialized centers and personnel training through this exchange.





In the following two days, according to the visiting schedule, the expert team of Elisabeth-Krankenhaus in Essen, Germany, launched a forum to exchange with several administrative departments like the Medical Office, Nursing Office, Operation Management Office, HR Office, Medical Insurance Office, Finance and Asset Management Office, Information Center, and related clinical departments such as General Surgery Department, Gastroenterology Department, Cardiovascular Medicine Department, Cardiovascular Surgery Department, etc. In addition, they visited some departments including the Anesthesiology & OR Department, ICU, EICU. During the period, the German expert team actively offered suggestions for the hospital’s fine management and high-quality development, and analyzed and answered the questions raised by various departments on the spot.


On the afternoon of May 9, a special academic exchange meeting was held in the Second Academic Hall of the Yingfu Building. Dr. Daniel Tian Li and Ms. Simone Sturm delivered their speeches titled “Scientific Research Ability Training and Development of Medical Personnel in Germany” and “The Organization of Inpatient Wards in German Hospitals under the DRG Mode” respectively, focusing on the training and growth path of German medical students, the medical scientific research ability improvement of medical personnel, hospital management, nursing management, DRG payment, and other related issues. 280 people participated in the lecture, including Prof. Li Xun, heads of administrative offices, heads of related clinical departments, head nurses, graduate students, and undergraduates.


After that, the visiting exchange summary feedback meeting was held. Prof. Li Xun, vice president of Lanzhou University, and president of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Mr. Wang Dingfeng, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee of Lanzhou University and Secretary of the Party Committee of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Mr. Yang Hongting, Deputy Secretary of the hospital Party Committee and Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Prof. Bai Ming, Vice President of the hospital, Mr. Che Shiping, Deputy Secretary of the hospital Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union, other vice presidents of the hospital including Zhang Liting, Lei Junqiang, Ji Rui, Zhang Lei, Chief Accountant Ma Chunying, heads of the administrative and logistics divisions and directors of the relevant clinical departments attended the meeting.



At the meeting, the German expert team summarized the two-day visit, giving feedback on relevant clinical departments. They highly affirmed that the hospital had made positive progress and significant results in hospital operation management, DRG payment, and other aspects, hoping to deepen cooperation in the high-quality operation and management of the hospital, the construction of specialized centers, and the training of international talents.


Li Xun said that the First Hospital of Lanzhou University and Elisabeth-Krankenhaus in Essen, Germany, have established a good foundation for cooperation through exchanges and visits. Two days of academic exchanges and clinical visits, from in-depth and detailed academic discussion of clinical disciplines to the fine operation and management of the hospital, helped the whole hospital update the concept, improve the level of refined management, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the hospital and bench-marking the international first-class hospitals.


Wang Dingfeng said that the hospital has always maintained an international perspective, attached great importance to foreign cooperation and exchanges, and actively carried out extensive cooperation with internationally renowned medical institutions. The visit of Dr. Daniel Tian Li and his team to the hospital will further promote the establishment of a good personnel training mechanism and extensive cooperation in scientific research fields between the two, to further boost the high-quality development of the hospital.

This visit marks the implementation of the long-term cooperation agreement between the two sides. In the next step, both sides will continue to carry out pragmatic and efficient cooperation in the fine management of hospitals and the construction of special disease centers.
