LZUFH has become the First International VATS Training Program Training Base in China

On January 20th, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH) held the unveiling ceremony of the International VATS （video-assisted thoracic surgery）Training Program training base, becoming the first training base for this program in China. Prof. Diego González Rivas, director of the International VATS Training Program Center, member of AATS, visiting professor of Lanzhou University, and Prof. Meng Wenbo, vice president of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University attended the ceremony.


Prof. Meng Wenbo stated that as a key specialty of thoracic surgery in Gansu province and a quality control center for thoracic surgery throughout the Gansu province, the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University is committed to providing patients with more comprehensive and professional medical services. Prof. Meng Wenbo hopes this training base can help the thoracic surgery medical technology of Gansu Province reach a new level. He also express his gratitude to Prof. Diego González Rivas and his team for their strong support in the construction and technological progress of the thoracic surgery discipline at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University and even the entire western region.


    Subsequently, Prof. Diego González Rivas and Prof. Meng Wenbo jointly unveiled the plaque for the training base and signed a cooperation agreement. Both sides held talks on the next steps of talent cultivation in thoracic surgery, discipline construction, promotion of new technologies and services, and progress in diagnosis and treatment technology, further clarifying the direction of cooperation. Prof. Han Biao, Prof. Ma Minjie, and Prof. Wei Ning from the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University have been appointed as the chief training experts of the training base.
