LZUFH Successfully Held an Online Meeting on Diabetes and Preventive Medicine with Japan

On December 8, 2022, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University and the University of Tokyo Hospital held an online meeting, with the theme of “diabetes and preventive medicine”. Professor Yoko IIZUKA of The University of Tokyo Hospital, Professor Meng Wenbo, Vice President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Professor Liu Yatao, Director of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Department, Professor Tang Xulei, Director Fu Songbo and all members of the Endocrine Department attended this meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Director Liu Yatao and Director Fu Songbo. Vice President Meng Wenbo and Professor Tang Xulei delivered the welcome speech. Professor Yoko IIZUKA shared the “comprehensive management of diabetes in Japan” and “experience of preventive medicine in Japan”. Centering on the characteristics of diabetes in Japan, she introduced the “team building and relevant experience of diabetes management” and the “concept of international physical examination center” of the University of Tokyo Hospital from the overall evaluation of diabetes, evaluation of complications, diet, exercise and drug treatment, On this basis, she introduced how to conduct health status analysis and individualized services.
Director Fu Songbo introduced the “diabetes treatment and preventive medicine in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University” and shared it from the aspects of the historical development of Endocrine Department, the management and follow-up of endocrine and metabolic diseases, several national large-scale epidemiological projects and the regional characteristics of diabetes in Gansu Province. He hoped to take this opportunity to learn from Japan’s advanced diabetes management experience, build a diabetes comprehensive management team in the economically underdeveloped areas of northwest China.
The two sides exchanged views on the management of diabetes and the intention of cooperation in preventive medicine. The online participants spoke actively and interacted enthusiastically. They exchanged views on diabetes clinical research, basic research, complication evaluation, team building and long-term development, and discussed the in-depth cooperation in diabetes chronic disease management.
At last, Professor Meng Wenbo made a concluding speech. He believed that the comprehensive management and preventive medicine exchange meeting of diabetes between China and Japan had expanded the vision of diabetes management in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University. The Endocrine Department should attach importance to the management of diabetes and chronic complications in Gansu province. In the future, the Endocrine Department should further deepen the cooperation and exchange between China and Japan, and actively promote the management of endocrine and metabolic diseases in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University through the way of “inviting in and going out”, so as to better benefit the patients with diabetes in the northwest.
