LZUFH Successfully Held Senior Surgical Training Programme Online Approval Meeting

On October 27, 2022, the first international certification project for senior surgeons in western China - The First Hospital of Lanzhou University(LZUFH) - The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) “Senior Surgeons Overseas Education Base Certification” approval meeting was held online and offline simultaneously.
Professor Michael Griffin - President of RCSEd, Professor Rowan Parks-President - Elect of RCSEd, Dr Clare McNaught - Honorary Secretary & Vice President Elect of RCSEd, Professor Tim Graham - Joint Specialty Fellowship Chair & Vice President Elect of RCSEd, Professor Philip Turner - Chair of Professional Standards of RCSEd, Dr Peng Wong - Regional Surgical Advisor of RCSEd, Mr Duncan McArthur - Director of Professional Activities of RCSEd, Mrs Catherine Thwaites - International Activity Manager of RCSEd. Participants from The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong (CSHK), China: Professor Kent-Man CHU (President), Professor Tan-To CHEUNG (Vice President (External Affairs)), Dr Peggy Sau-Kwan CHU (Censor-in-Chief). Professor Li Yumin - Vice President of Lanzhou University and Director of Medical Department, Professor Li Xun - President of LZUFH, Professor Yang Yongxiu - Vice President of LZUFH, Professor Meng Wenbo - Vice President of LZUFH, and all members of LZUFH Accreditation Project Team attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Natalie Liao, Programme Coordinator of LZUFH and RCSEd Cooperation.
During the meeting, Professor Michael Griffin read out the final report of LZUFH accreditation final report. He fully recognized the progress made by LZUFH in the past two years in its efforts to prepare, continuously optimize and continuously improve the surgeon training system and quality, and expressed gratitude to Lanzhou University for its strong support and guidance in this work.
Professor Kent-Man CHU outlined the requirements for the membership examination of RCSEd, and believed that the cooperation between The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong (CSHK), China and the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH) to develop a strategic working relationship was exciting. Both sides would work together to build a more developed medical technology and a more soft power in western China!
Li Yumin, vice president of Lanzhou University, said that the First Hospital of Lanzhou University should take this as a new starting point, work tirelessly, establish and promote an internationally advanced training model for excellent surgeons, further develop and strengthen the higher surgical education and training system in western China, and benefit patients in Gansu and even the northwest.
Li Xun, the president of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, on behalf of LZUFH, thanked RCSEd for their guidance and recognition, and requested all the LZUFH Accreditation Project team members to study hard and make unremitting efforts. In accordance with the international advanced surgical training and assessment model, LZUFH will continue to sharpen, optimize and improve, and in the next year, LZUFH will be in close contact with the expert teams of RCSEd and CSHK, and make more contributions to the development of medical education in Lanzhou University and the cultivation of medical talents.
