2022 Lanzhou ERAD & Ambulatory Surgery International Academic Conference Held Successfully

In order to further promote the practice and research of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS)/ Enhanced Recovery After Diseases (ERAD) and ambulatory surgery in a scientific, standardized and effective manner, and strengthen experience summary and exchange, as the first batch of ERAS pilot hospital of the National Health Commission and the First Affiliated Hospital of ERAS Society in China, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University held “2022 Lanzhou Enhanced Recovery After Diseases & Ambulatory Surgery International Academic Conference” in Lanzhou, Gansu Province from September 16 to September 17, 2022.
This conference invites 17 internationally renowned experts from ERAS Society and ERAS birthplace: Hvidovre Hospital of Copenhagen University, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, South Korea and other countries, as well as more than 100 famous scholars from inside and outside the Gansu province. Following the principle of multi-disciplinary cooperation in ERAS/ERAD practice, the conference set up a special session focusing on the disease (system/organ), focusing on the implementation of ERAS/ERAD in HBP/Gastrointestinal Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Thoracic Surgery. Experts in surgery, anesthesia, nursing, nutrition, rehabilitation and hospital management discussed and exchanged the latest progress and successful models and experiences of ERAS/ERAD practice in MDT mode. The special session for ambulatory surgery discussed and exchanged ideas around the development of ambulatory surgery norms.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Hans de Boer, Chairman Executive Committee of ERAS Society, Professor Nicolas Demartines, Chairman of the ERAS Implementation Program of ERAS Society, and Professor Torben Mogensen, the winner of the 2018 “Friendship Award” of the Chinese government and visiting professor of Lanzhou University, delivered speeches successively. They highly affirmed the efforts and achievements made by the First Hospital of Lanzhou University in practicing and promoting ERAS and ambulatory surgery, and raised ardent hopes for follow-up cooperation and exchanges.
President Li Xun introduced the ERAS progress of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University in recent years. He also thanked the leaders, experts and colleagues who attended the conference for their help and trust in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University. He believed that this conference would promote the standardized application of the successful models and advanced concepts of ERAS in Gansu province and accelerate the development of ERAD in Gansu province.
At the same time, a series of activities were also held, such as signing ceremony of agreement on colorectal ERAS Training and Implementation Program, signing and awarding ceremony of Gansu Province ERAS Discipline Alliance, launching ceremony of the key talent project “Gansu Province ERAS standardized practice and training base construction”, training meeting on “Talent Base Construction and Innovation Team Cultivation for Ambulatory Surgery Promotion and Application in Gansu Province”.
At the end of the opening ceremony, Professor Hans de Boer introduced “the role of ERAS in anesthesia”, President Li Xun shared the practical experience of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University on “building a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment model centered on disease (organ/system) with ERAS concept based on MDT”, and Professor Pei Fuxing of West China Hospital of Sichuan University introduced the key progress of orthopaedics under the title of “Progress and key technologies of ERAS in orthopaedics”, Professor Torben Mogensen gave a speech online under the theme of “ERAS from the perspective of economics”. Professor Chen Wei, Beijing Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, shared “Whole process nutrition management under ERAS model”, and Professor Nicolas Demartines introduced “Progress of ERAS in 2022”, Xiong Lize, President of Shanghai No.4 People's Hospital, explained the “neuroscience problems of elderly anesthesia”, and Guo Li, President of Peking University No.3 Hospital, shared the “development of ERAS in the operating room”. During the conference, special academic lectures were held on several topics, more than 50000 people participated in the conference online, and five sub forums were held successively.
