In order to strive to reach the international level of medical technology development and promote the development of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) in Gansu province, based on the early cooperation, the Orthopaedics Department II and Anesthesiology Department of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University held an online discussion meeting with experts from the Arthrology Department and Anesthesiology Department of Copenhagen University, Denmark, Arthrology Department of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Orthopaedics Department of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University. Meng Wenbo, vice president of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Liu Yatao, director of the Department of Foreign Cooperation and Exchange, and Professor Wang Wenji and Professor Zhao Haiyan of Orthopedics Department attended the meeting with all medical staff.

In his speech, vice president Meng Wenbo, on behalf of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, thanked Professor Torben Mogensen and Professor Henrik Husted, who have long cared for the development of ERAS of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, and thanked the experts from the brother hospital and the relevant departments of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University for their great help. He said that in recent years, under the leadership of Professor Wang Wenji, the Orthopaedics Department of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University has closely cooperated with Anesthesiology Department and other related disciplines, regularly held online and offline academic seminars, earnestly implemented the concepts of ERAS and Enhanced Recovery After Diseases (ERAD), and made great progress.

Professor Torben Mogensen, the former executive vice president and anesthesiologist of Hvidovre Hospital of the University of Copenhagen, said that since 2019, the University of Copenhagen and the First Hospital of Lanzhou University have carried out all-round cooperation in ERAS, which has made great progress in the development of ERAS of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University. The exchange of joint replacement technologies between the two sides opened a new field of cooperation and exchange between the University of Copenhagen and the First Hospital of Lanzhou University. The University of Copenhagen will, as always, support the cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Wang Wenji and Director Liu Yatao. During the seminar, Professor Liu Yatao of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Professor Han Hua of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University, and Professor Wang Haoyang of West China Hospital of Sichuan University had in-depth discussions with Professor Torben and Professor Henrik.

Doctor Zhao Yuesheng reported in detail the case of unicondylar knee arthroplasty. Nurse Fang Wenhui shared the nursing experience after knee replacement revision. Professor Torben commented on the diagnosis and treatment process of this case and emphasized the postoperative rehabilitation process of the patient. At the same time, Professor Henrik combined with his own experience, raised questions during the diagnosis and treatment of this case, and Professor Liu Yatao and Professor Zhao Haiyan answered them one by one. The expert group fully affirmed the diagnosis and treatment concept of ERAS of orthopedic team.

Finally, the two sides conducted warm online exchanges. Both sides hope that this meeting will promote the development of ERAS in Orthopaedics Department of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University and promote the continuous improvement of orthopaedic treatment level in Gansu province.
