LZUFH holds “The Belt and Road” Countries · China Academic Forum and ERCP/EUS Training Course

From May 11 to 14, 2021, “The Belt and Road” Countries · China Academic Forum on Minimally Invasive Technology of Surgical Endoscopy and the 37th Western China ERCP/EUS “Hands-on” Advanced Training Course were successfully held by the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, also the Training Base of the Chinese Academy of Digestive Endoscopy, Digestive Endoscopy Physician Training Base of the Chinese Medical Association as well as the Standardized Training Base for China ERCP Technical Talents. The meeting aimed at spurring the development of international and standardized ERCP diagnosis and treatment with the purpose of realizing global cooperation on public health governance, embodying the concept of “big health, big medical care” and people-oriented thought, jointly promoting the construction of “healthy Silk Road” and the international exchange on advanced diagnosis and treatment techniques and standardized operations in the field of ERCP in China. 8 trainees from 6 provinces nationwide and more than 50 endoscopy doctors from 11 countries around the world participated in the Forum online simultaneously.
At the invitation of Dean Li Xun, Vice President of Endoscopic Physician Association of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Standing Committee Member of Digestive Endoscopy Branch & Head of of Endoscopic Surgery Group of Chinese Medical Association, Professor Zou Duowu, Director of the Endoscopy Center of Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Professor Zhao Qiu, Director of Digestive Endoscopy Center of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University and Professor Wang Dong, Deputy Director of the Endoscopy Center of Ruijin Hospital, attended the Forum and also served as instructors, conducting “hands-on” teaching and training.
On May 12, Professor Li Xun, on behalf of the Hospital, extended warm welcome to all participants at home and abroad, addressed the opening speech and gave the lecture themed as“Exploration of Surgical ERCP Training Mode”. Then Professor Zou Duowu delivered a keynote speech on “Elective Intubation Techniques”. Except domestic specialists, Dr. Mazen Naga from Cairo University, Egypt and Dr.Nejad from Tehran University, Iran shared their excellent and profound opinions centered with ERCP Techniques and Endoscopic Treatment of Necrotizing Pancreatitis.
At the meeting, experts and students made active interactions with each other. Dr. Micheal Oling from Uganda asked Professor Li Xun about the training of Chinese surgical endoscopists and the implementation of detailed training plans. Dr.Ahemd Bhuiyan from Bangladesh showed his interest in China’s surgical classification system and ERCP practical operation management regulations. What’s more, Dr.Khan from Pakistan consulted the training mode and simulators application in the Training Center of Lanzhou University First Hospital.
Via in-depth academic exchanges among experts, scholars and physicians from various countries, the attendees at the meeting have a full understanding on the difficulties related to ERCP techniques and updated their knowledge. At last, they expressed the hope that more meetings of this type could be held in the future and they want to get the opportunity to participate in the training. The meeting brought an academic feast and provided a high-standard hands-on advanced training. The trainees said that the course not only strengthened their understanding on the basic ERCP operating as well as the cutting-edge knowledge. Furthermore, it is also a platform for endoscopy physicians to conduct online learning and communication.
