From April 16th to 17th, the China Hospital Competitiveness Conference hosted by GZ Asclepius Healthcare was held in Xiamen, Fujian. At the meeting, Asclepius GAHA and Social Science Literature Publishing House jointly released the Hospital Blue Book: China Hospital Competitiveness Report (2020~2021). The First Hospital of Lanzhou University was selected as one of the “Top 100 Hospitals in China”, ranking 91st, and at the same time won the HIC300 smart hospital. Dean Li Xun was invited to give a lecture on “Smart Medicine-Helping Accelerate the Implementation of Rehabilitation Medicine” at the conference. The evaluation indicators of top hospitals include five dimensions, which is medical technology, resource allocation, hospital operations, high-quality services and academic research respectively.
The First Hospital of Lanzhou University was founded in 1948. With a history of 70 years, it has developed into a comprehensive modern Grade-III Level-A hospital, providing medical service, teaching, scientific research, prevention, healthcare, rehabilitation as well as emergency treatment.In 2020, the hospital received 1,782,316 outpatients, discharged 68,850 patients and carried out 53,359 cases of various surgeries.
The hospital currently has 1 The National Rare and Complicated Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment Center, 4 National Key Clinical Disciplines, namely Cardiovascular Medicine, Geriatrics, Gastroenterology Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine. And 5 Provincial Key Clinical Medical Labs, namely Biological Treatment & Regenerative Medicine Lab, Gastroenterology Lab, Cardiovascular Diseases Lab, Reproductive Medicine& Embryo Lab, and Gynecological Tumors Lab, are located here.
In recent years, the hospital has integrated resources to set up 6 outstanding discipline clusters, which is Disciplines Cluster for Earlier Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention System of Western China Critical and High-yield Tumors, Disciplines Cluster for Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Western China Highly Prevalent Chronic Diseases, Disciplines Cluster for Prevention and Treatment of Rare, Complicated and Critical Cardiovascular Diseases, Disciplines Cluster for Reproductive Medicine and Genetics, Disciplines Cluster for Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, Disciplines Cluster for Intensive Care Medicine and Traumatology respectively. In 2019, it has been approved 31 provincial-level key disciplines and 16 provincial-level key specialties in medical and health.
For the past few years, 226 research projects are approved with over 135,000,000 RMB of funds, among them 7 projects won the Science and Technology Advancement Award offered by the Department of Science and Technology of Gansu Province (two are first prize) and 25 won prizes at the municipal level. We have published 1683 papers, including 314 SCI papers, 336 CSCD papers, and 317 CSTPCD.
The hospital has developed profound and fruitful international cooperation in various areas such as tumor prevention and treatment, ERAS implementation, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, chronic disease management and rehabilitation, reproductive medicine and gynecology, trauma as well as the treatment of critical patients. We have established sound cooperation and signed contracts with 12 famous medical institutions and university hospitals such as Universite de Lausanne and its hospital in Switzerland, University of Regensburg and its hospital in Germany, ASAN Medical Center in South Korea, Tokyo Women’s Medical University in Japan, Shupyk National Medical Academy and its hospital in Ukrainian. It is also German-Chinese Innovation Centre for Trauma Medicine, Over 200 foreign experts are invited to our hospital to conduct academic communication and 52 of them are invited to be Guest/Visitor Professor or Instructor at school or hospital level respectively. Besides, the hospital also sends more than 400 professionals to renowned hospitals abroad for further study.
The hospital has carried out 13 projects involving the Talents Introduction Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology and “HOME” Program -- Help Our Motherland through Elite Intellectual Resources from Overseas of China Association for Science and Technology. The President Li Xun as well as other professors at the hospital are invited to be Visiting Professors at the University Hospital of Lausanne Switzerland and Klinikum rechts der Isar School of Medicine, Technical University Munich (TUM), Germany.
The Hospital Blue Book edited by GZ Asclepius Healthcare every year conducts a directional horizontal and vertical comparative study of about 5,000 hospitals at different levels and categories, and summarizes and analyzes it into a national annual industry report, recording and providing industry development trends, benchmarks, efficiency, and reference. The results of the analysis of the competitiveness factors of the Blue Book released on the same day showed that among the top 100 hospitals, the difference in service capabilities and resource allocation is small, and the difference in talent construction and academic research is relatively large. Disciplines construction and academic research are the key factors affecting the competitiveness of top hospitals.
