On the afternoon of December 27, 2020, at the opening ceremony of the 7th Technology and Culture Festival of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH), Li Xun, President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, announced that the new Outpatient Building, which embodies  the wisdom and hard work of 3,600 employees, was officially put into use. This is a significant milestone in the history of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University!

    As a major construction project in Gansu Province and Lanzhou City,  the Outpatient Building Project was approved in 2012，covering an area of 77,446 square meters. The main building has 24 floors above ground and 2 floors underground.

    The new building is the largest single building since the establishment of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University with Emergency Center, Department of Outpatient, Inpatient Ward, Day Surgery Center, Operating Room, Reproductive Medicine Center, Endoscopy Center, Radiotherapy Center, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine as well as laboratories etc.included.

    On the basis of the original 1769 beds, the new Outpatient Building has 424 beds added, the Outpatient Clinic has been increased from 90 to 130, the Operating Room has been increased by 16, and the Emergency ICU, Precision Medicine Center, Trauma Center and other new diagnosis and treatment platforms have been built.

    At present, we have built the DSA&CT dual Hybrid-OR that meets the highest international standards, which integrated with the highest international standard of the German MAQUET surgical intelligent modular Hybrid-OR system, as well as the world’s top Philips DSA and the German Siemens high-end sliding rail CT system, creating a comfortable and beautiful “aircraft carrier” Hybrid-OR.

    Th OR covers an area of 200 square meters with world-class facilities. As the first and largest DSA&CT dual Hybrid-OR in western China, it will provide better quality and treatment for high-risk and severe patients with cardiovascular, neurological diseases, tumors and etc. The only international comprehensive Day Surgery Center in Gansu Province has been set up in the new building. It has also introduced the world's first color spectral CT. Besides, the Outpatient Building  integrates the construction of multiple digital platforms, and has installed the intelligent vehicle system, including building monitoring, intelligent lighting, security and protection, data room, medical equipment management and other hospital management and service systems, promoting the construction of a health big data platform.

    We have also built a Smart Pharmacy with the automatic medicine dispensing machine. The dispensing information is directly transmitted to the automatic medicine dispensing machine through the HIS system. The patient can pick up the medicine at any time. The equipment increases the efficiency of drug delivery by about 60%. In addition, the smart pharmacy system also has the functions of automatic identification and automatic locking, which can accurately avoid expired medicines during the process of taking medicines to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medicines.

    Next, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University will promote the construction of 5G network infrastructure, strengthen the research, development and application of 5G technology, and jointly establish laboratories based on the innovative application of 5G technology in smart medical and other fields based on the latest communication technology.
