From December 7 to 11, 2020, the trauma team of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH) conducted professional training with Prof. Michael Nerlich, Visiting Professor of our hospital, President of the German-Chinese Society of Medicine as well as the German Society of Orthopaedics and Trauma, Prof. Michaela Huber from Regensburg University Medical Faculty and Prof. Christian Waydhas from Bochum University.

Liu Yatao, Deputy Director of the Trauma Center, reported the progress of the Center construction and trauma treatment to German experts, involving the gap between national requirements and hospital capacity on trauma care, problems and difficulties faced in work,  six-month work plan, etc. And he also introduced the current situation of Trauma Center in the new Outpatient Building via video. At the same time, the trauma team members posed many questions to the German experts centered on the organization and management of the Center and the internal operating mechanism.

After five-day training and academic exchange, the German trauma team, especially Prof. Nerlich, expressed high appreciation for the efforts made by LZUFH in promoting the construction and development of Trauma Center over past years. At the same time, he also provided practical and precious suggestions related to the improvement of treatment capabilities, quality control, allocation of trauma surgery human resources and external cooperation.
