The clinical pharmacist Zhang Jianping of our hospital was invited to deliver a speech entitled “The similarities and differences of clinical pharmacy between China and the United States” in English, and received wide recognition and enthusiastic responses both online and offline. The Director of Pharmacy Dr. Janet Kozakiewicz and the clinical pharmacist James Sarigianis, both from Yale New Haven Hospital, made detailed comments and gave high appraisal on Zhang Jianping’s report. Later on, Chinese and American pharmacists carried out profound communication and discussion on the direction of clinical pharmacy development. Li Boxia, the clinical pharmacist of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, successfully completed the task of simultaneous interpretation.

Professor Shusen Sun from Western New England University reported on the topic of “Clinical pharmacy training program for Chinese pharmacists”. This program is a six-month overseas training program for Chinese pharmacists, jointly established by the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences of Western New England University and Yale New Haven Hospital in 2016. Six pharmacists are selected to participate in the training every year. Li Boxia and Zhang Jianping attended the training in November 2016 and September 2019.

Chinese and American Pharmacist Webinar has set up a valuable platform for international academic exchanges among clinical pharmacists, which not only broadens the pharmacist’s horizons and mind but also increases their knowledge. The Webinar also shows the professional competence as well as the unique charm of our clinical pharmacists and will play a positive role in further promoting the development of the hospital’s clinical pharmacy.
