Recently, the “Belt and Road” International ERCP Training Program conducted by the Diagnosis and Treatment Training Center for Surgical Endoscopy of our hospital has achieved fruitful results again. Dr. Lai Teck Gew, an endoscopy specialist from Kuala Lumpur Hospital in Malaysia, underwent a week-long ERCP advanced training in 2019 at the Training Center. During the training, Dr. Lai Teck Gew and Deputy Chief Physician Yue Ping from the Department of General Surgery (Ward 8) jointly completed an ERCP operation for a complex biliary tract disease, and co-authored the paper “Late Complications Caused by the Neglected Biliary Stent”, which was published in the top journal ENDOSCOPY (IF = 6.381). This achievement marks another breakthrough made by the Center and also demonstrates the effective implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Besides, the Center has also made initial achievements on the training and improving the quality of endoscopic physicians among countries along the Belt and Road.

Led by the academic leader, Prof. Li Xun, the Diagnosis and Treatment Training Center for Surgical Endoscopy have achieved rapid development in such areas as clinic, teaching, scientific research as well as international cooperation and exchanges. It has been approved as “2020 International Technical Training Course for Developing Countries” by the Department of International Cooperation, China’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
