On April 7, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University held an online experience sharing meeting on COVID-19 prevention and treatment with our UK partner, James Cook University Hospital.

Vice President Zhao Da briefed our situation at first and shared measures our hospital has taken in fighting against COVID-19. Medical Director David Chadwick from UK counterpart introduced their situation and expressed their concerns on the high fatality rate of critical patients and high infective rate among medical workers.

Later, experts from both sides conducted profound discussion centered on the treatment of COVID-19 patients, including preliminary examination and triage, drug application and typical case sharing and analysis.

“Your experience is very useful and important to us!” In more than 2 hours sharing, UK experts kept asking questions about the treatment of critical cases, such as how to intubate COVID-19 patients, and how to assess patients to decide when to introduce antivirals and so on. Dr. Chu Pei, Dr. Mao Xiaorong, Dr. Bai Xue and Zhang Lei took turns to answer them, based on their clinical treatment experiences.
