Dean Li Xun conducts academic exchanges at James Cook Hospital

Recently, at the invitation of the British James Cook Hospital and other institutions, the visiting delegation from the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, led by Dean Li Xun and Vice President Wang Wenji, conducted academic exchanges .
As the largest medical center, regional level III trauma center as well as referral center in the northeastern United Kingdom, James Cook Hospital enjoys a high-reputation in such areas as cancer, severe trauma, spinal cord injury, neuroscience, cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology, radiation therapy, reproductive medicine, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) and so on. As the surgeons training center of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and the medical education and research clinical hospital of Newcastle University and Durham University, James Cook Hospital has a good foundation in medical personnel training and scientific research. In 2019, James Cook Hospital admitted the first batch of four surgeons from the First Hospital of Lanzhou University to pursue further study and training.
During the visit, Dean Li Xun, Vice President Wang Wenji and other experts of our hospital together conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the main leaders as well as key personnel of the Institute, including Associate Dean Ms. Maureen Rutter, Director of Trauma Center Laura Evans, Senior Consultant Stephen Bonner and so on, reaching consensus on the joint training of personnel, scientific research cooperation, clinical new technology and ability improvement, and medical quality control. During the exchange, the delegation members were also invited to visit the Trauma Center, Emergency Department, Operating Room, ICU, observing operation, anesthesia and the treatment of critically ill patients.
The visiting delegation were also invited to the Freeman Hospital of Newcastle University in the United Kingdom to discuss with expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, organ transplant experts as well as hospital management experts on various aspects such as the treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases, liver and pancreas transplants, medical quality control, process optimization, improvement of medical safety and cost savings.
