Cooperation sets to deepen between British Royal College of Surgeons and LZUFH

Recently, Dean Li Xun and other experts of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH) were invited to visit the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in England to conduct an academic exchange.
At the beginning, Dean Li Xun extended heart-felt gratitude to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for their supporting in accepting 7 outstanding young surgeons of our hospital to pursue further study at the Royal College of Surgeons and its affiliated hospital for 6 months. He also had in-depth exchanges with Professor Para Rajesh, the vice president of the hospital, on the similarities and differences between the surgeons’ training systems and models.
They had reached a consensus for the long-term cooperation on joint training the follow-up talents on the basis of their own advantages, including medium and long-term clinical research and basic research for 1 to 2 years, clinical observation and training for 3 to 6 months, joint training of outstanding doctoral and postgraduate students, international training courses for surgeons, establishing the Royal College-certified surgeons training base at the First Hospital of Lanzhou University as well as joint implementation of scientific research.The main principals who participated in the discussions and exchanges are Professor Stuart Clark, Dean of the International Graduate School of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Christine Burt, Director of the Department of Surgery Training and Certification, Ms. Jeannie Hyslop-Parsons, Head of the International Graduate Training Program, and Mr. Christopher Hooper, Head of the Online Program of Surgeons respectively.
