On the morning of August 15, 2019, invited by Li Xun, Dean of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Professor Helmut Friess, general-secretary of the European Association of Digestive Surgery, from Klinikum rechts der Isar, School of Medicine, Technical University Munich (TUM) visited our hospital for academic exchanges. He is particularly experienced in the treatment and research of pancreatic diseases and has published many articles on world class journals. In his visit he made a brief introduction to the Klinikum rechts der Isar, School of Medicine and shared the topic on new developments in pancreatic tumor treatment.

       Professor Helmut Friess briefly presented the problems existing in curing the patient suffered from pancreatic cancer, including late diagnosis, inaccuracy of CT imaging as well as difficulties in surgery and R0-resection. Then he introduced neoadjuvant treatment combining with the clinical cases to the medical staff of our hospital and concluded that more therapy should be given to the pancreatic cancer patients.

      After deep communication, the two parties have discussed future cooperative direction and intention and on behalf of the Technical University of Munich, Professor Helmut Friess awards the certificate of guest professor to Dean Li Xun.
