On February 13, the provincial party committee and the provincial government held the "Gansu provincial science and technology (patent) award conference" in Lanzhou to commend the units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the province's science and technology progress and economic and social development in 2018.The project hosted by Professor Zhou Yongning of Lanzhou University has won “the first prize of Gansu provincial science and technology progress award” for the second time since 2011.

Professor Zhou Yongning presided over and lead the team to complete the project "selective cox-2 inhibitors to participate in the action mechanism and treatment of gastric cancer value", the application of translational medicine, multi-level and multi-angle research tumor related important molecular cox-2 to participate in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer molecular mechanisms and the application as a new target in gastric cancer prevention and clinical treatment effect and value.This result has laid an important theoretical foundation for elucidating the pathogenesis of gastric cancer, provided a new reliable molecular target for the early diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer, and provided an effective alternative scheme for the clinical treatment of gastric cancer.

In the past 20 years, Professor Zhou Yongning has constantly led the team to be focused on clinical diagnosis, treatment and scientific research of digestive system-related diseases, especially on laying a good foundation for the molecular mechanism and prevention and control of gastric cancer.In recent years, he has been assisted by one project of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China (" model of prevention and control in Wuwei malignant tumor high incidence area "), two national key research and development projects, four projects on National Natural Science Foundation of China, and two national science and technology support projects. He has published more than 100 Chinese and foreign papers.In 2011, he was awarded “the first prize of Gansu province for Scientific and Technological progress"; in 2012, he was awarded the "National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Workers"; in 2015, he was awarded the "Chinese Scientist (2014) annual figure award"; in 2017, he was awarded the "China industry-university-research cooperation innovation award"; and in 2018, he was awarded the "outstanding leading talent of Gansu province" by Gansu provincial party committee and provincial government.

The department of gastroenterology ofthe first hospital of Lanzhou University is the national key clinical specialty, the key laboratory of gastrointestinal diseases of Gansu province, the professional medical quality control center of gastroenterology of Gansu province and the key discipline of gastrointestinal diseases of Gansu province.Currently, The first hospital of Lanzhou University has a research team of more than 50 people, mainly focusing on the pathogenesis of gastric cancer and prevention and control of early diagnosis and treatment.A research cohort of more than 20,000 people with high incidence of gastric cancer has been established in Wuwei through the science and technology benefits the people program to carry out long-term research on prevention and control of gastric cancer. Exome sequencing and gene chip detection were used to search for early diagnosis markers of gastric cancer, and the driving molecules and their mechanisms in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer were studied.
